How Marvels Brie Larson Reacted After Seeing Black Panther

Today, the Marvel Cinematic Universe kicks off its 2018 film schedule with the official release of Ryan Coogler's Black Panther. There's already quite a bit of enthusiasm for the movie based on the early buzz, and now it looks like other members of the Marvel family have gotten in on the hype. Specifically, it seems that Captain Marvel star Brie Larson has seen Black Panther, and she cannot recommend it enough. After finally getting a chance to see the new film, Larson posted:

Casual reviews on social media do not get much more glowing than that one. Brie Larson has seen Black Panther, and it is clear that she thoroughly enjoyed herself while watching the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe offering. Even in the face of high ticket prices and dwindling theater attendance (a topic that we have covered many times over the course of the last few years), she thinks Black Panther stands out as a movie that's well worth the cost of admission and the effort of making it to your local theater.

Brie Larson's tweet about the impact that Black Panther can have on the average moviegoer is not the first reaction that we have seen from a Marvel insider. In fact, after getting a chance to see the film at its premiere, Thor: Ragnarok actress Tessa Thompson similarly took to social media to voice her immense praise for the movie. We will obviously have to wait and see how general audiences respond to the film as its opening weekend kicks into high gear, but these early reactions definitely seem to bode well for its chances to make a big impression as the 2018 superhero movie season gets going.

Of course, it is reasonably easy to see how someone like Brie Larson could feel a specific kinship with a movie like Black Panther. In the same way that Ryan Coogler's T'Challa (Chadwick Boseman) solo film stands out as Marvel's first ever movie fronted by a black superhero, so too will Captain Marvel mark the MCU's first ever solo film fronted by a female hero. One thing is clear: with these new heroes entering the fray, the MCU is going to look considerably different by the time Phase 3 wraps up with Avengers 4.

Sometimes it's clear when two movies are part of the same franchise, other times not so much.
